POWER POLL - Week #2

Not much change to the poll. Considering everyone that should have won, did win, there is no real reason to move anyone. I moved Arkansas down because they were just pitiful looking against Southern Cal and may have been a little overrated. Although, giving up five turnovers makes it tough to keep the score in the 30s. I also moved Mississippi State down to the cellar because if they met Vandy on a neutral field with the backfield depleted like it is, Vandy would win. So, without further adeiu......

Power Poll – Week 2

  1. Florida (1-0, 0-0) – Struggled early, but pulled away when necessary. Oh and two words: Percy Harvin. Wow, just wow. Last Game: Beat Southern Miss 34-7 , Up Next: Central Florida.
  2. LSU (1-0, 0-0) – Nice scrimmage against the Cajuns. Offense looks strong, let’s see how Russell looks against a defense that can actually scheme. Last Game: Beat UL-Lafayette 45-3, Up Next: Arizona
  3. Auburn (1-0, 0-0) – Auburn goes as far as Kenny Irons can take them. Oh and can the defense not overrun every play? I’m looking at you Eric Brock. Last Game: Washington State 40-14, Up Next: at Mississippi State.
  4. Tennessee (1-0, 0-0) – Very impressive. Get ready for the Gators. Last Game: Beat California 35-18, Up Next: Air Force.
  5. Georgia (1-0, 0-0) – A solid win over the Ol’ Ball Coach will keep you here Georgia. But I hear Matthew Stafford knocking on JTIII’s back door. Last Game: Beat Western Kentucky 48-12, Up Next: South Carolina.
  6. South Carolina (1-0, 1-0) – I’m not worried about the offense and that defense looked strong, didn’t it? Well, let’s see how strong it looks against Mark Richt’s schemes and Georgia’s players. Last Game: Beat Mississippi State 15-0, Up Next: at Georgia.
  7. Alabama (1-0, 0-0) – Despite what Scarbinsky says, I’m a doubter. Or am I a hater? Last Game: Beat Hawaii 25-17, Up Next: Vanderbilt.
  8. Arkansas (0-1, 0-0) – You kept it closer this year Hogs. That nice strong defense you have won’t have a chance if you keep giving the ball away like that. Is Mustain the answer? Last Game: Lost to Southern California 50-14, Up Next: Utah State.
  9. Ole Miss (1-0, 0-0) – A nice solid win for Ole Miss. I liked what I saw. Now, go on the road and stop an offense for a change. Good God man, you have Patrick Willis playing defense for you. Last Game: Beat Memphis 28-25, Up Next: at Missouri
  10. Kentucky (0-1, 0-0) – Your thank you card from Rich Rodriguez and the West Virginia defense is in the mail. Offense was solid. Defense? Well, they looked good in their uniforms. Last Game: Lost to Louisville 59-28, Up Next: Texas State.
  11. Vanderbilt (0-1, 0-0) – Out of the cellar for one week or maybe more. Nice defense. Last Game: Lost to Michigan 24-7, Up Next: at Alabama.
  12. Mississippi State (0-1, 0-1) – You really need to retool that offense Sylvester. It looked worse than Miami or Florida State. That is going to be tough to do without Henig and Dixon. Here’s a question, has Mississippi State made a full season under Croom without getting its starting quarterback injured? Last Game: Lost to South Carolina 15-0, Up Next: Auburn.
