POWER POLL - Week #3
A little movement in the power poll this week. No, I’m not trying reverse psychology for the Auburn-LSU tilt this weekend. Don’t worry, I’m sure there will be plenty of movement after this weekend. Here we go….
Power Poll – Week 3
- LSU (2-0, 0-0) – Is there an offense playing better than LSU’s right now? They just look strong. The defense is its usual stout self. Last Game: Beat Arizona 45-3, Up Next: at Auburn.
- Florida (2-0, 0-0) – Hard to drop a team when they don’t lose, but Florida really needs to play someone. That will happen Saturday in Knoxville. Last Game: Beat Central Florida 42-0, Up Next: at Tennessee.
- Auburn (2-0, 1-0) – A shutout is nice, but the defense needs to improve quickly. Key question, will LSU even bother throwing the football or just grind and grind until they finally win. Last Game: Beat Mississippi State 34-0, Up Next: LSU.
- Georgia (2-0, 1-0) – Any time you shutout Spurrier, you deserve to move up. The schedule plays out well for Stafford to learn and grow. Last Game: Beat South Carolina 15-0, Up Next: Alabama-Birmingham.
- Tennessee (2-0,0-0) – Come on Tennessee, I know you were looking ahead to Florida, but on that last drive Air Force’s wideouts were open all day. Phil, it looks like you have a little more work in the way of discipline. Last Game: Beat Air Force 31-30, Up Next: Florida.
- South Carolina (1-1, 1-1) – I’m having a hard time justifying keeping South Carolina ahead of an unbeaten Alabama team. The only reason they stay here is Alabama hasn’t really played anyone yet. And neither team will likely move due to weak opponents this week. Last Game: Lost to Georgia 15-0, Up Next: Wofford.
- Alabama (2-0, 0-0) – A little stat for you Alabama fans (thanks to Jon), in the past six games, the defense and special teams have outscored the offense 55 to 44. That is kind of scary. Please tell me no one is taking Alabama this week. They are giving 20.5 to UL-Monroe. Can Alabama score 20? Last Game: Beat Vanderbilt 13-10, Up Next: UL-Monroe.
- Arkansas (1-1, 0-0) – Got healthy with Utah State, play Alabama next week, travel to Nashville this week. Arkansas, this is your official trap warning. Watch out. Last Game: Beat Utah State 20-0, Up Next: Vanderbilt.
- Vanderbilt (0-2,0-1) – Moral victories, suck. However, Vandy has looked fairly solid in two losses. In fact, better than Ole Miss has looked going 1-1. Can you make it three games in a row Bobby Johnson?Last Game: Lost to Alabama 13-10 Up Next: Arkansas
- Ole Miss (1-1, 0-0) – Wow, 34 points to Missouri. Thirty four points? Seriously, 34 points? Last Game: Lost to Missouri 34-7, Up Next: at Kentucky.
- Kentucky (1-1, 0-0) – Time to play in the conference. The battle for #10 is this weekend in Lexington. Hello Lincoln Financial game of the week. Last Game: Beat Texas State 41-7, Up Next: Mississippi.
- Mississippi State (0-2, 0-2) – Two games, zero points. When Alabama’s offense is ahead of you, you are in trouble. Last Game: Lost to Auburn 34-0, Up Next: Tulane.
