SEC Power Poll - Week #5

We move kind of slow here at W.W.B.S. I’m still wearing leisure suits and Junior still sucks on his thumb sometimes. Having said that, you can understand why there is little movement in the poll this week. No one was particularly surprising last weekend.

Power Poll – Week 5

  1. Florida (4-0, 2-0) – Big time revenge game this weekend. If the Gators win on Saturday will Meyer cry again like last year? Last Game: Beat Kentucky 26-7, Up Next: Alabama.
  2. Auburn (4-0, 2-0) – Waiting for an offensive explosion. Last Game: Beat Buffalo 38-7, Up Next: at South Carolina (Thursday).
  3. LSU (3-1, 0-1) – Nice JV scrimmage against the Greenies. Oh look, another easy win this weekend. Last Game: Beat Tulane 49-7, Up Next: Mississippi State.
  4. Georgia (4-0, 1-0) – It is tempting to move them down for the close win against Colorado, but it doesn’t happen. That was close though wasn’t it? I imagine the Dawgs will start scoring on Ole Miss in the pregame warmups and won’t stop until the bus pulls out of Oxford. Last Game: Beat Colorado 14-13, Up Next: at Ole Miss.
  5. Tennessee (3-1,0-1) – Nice quality win against Marshall. It was close in the first half, but that is what happens when the game is delayed for close to 45 minutes. Plus, Tennessee always needs about a half to wake up. Last Game: Beat Marshall 33-7, Up Next: at Memphis.
  6. Arkansas (3-1, 2-0) – Big game from McFadden and the offensive line. However, you are now playing with house money Houston Nutt. You will have to pay up soon. Last Game: Beat Alabama 24-23, Up Next: Bye.
  7. Alabama (3-1, 1-1) – Mike Shula you really don’t get much support. Great game plan, great calls at the end of the game. I think you deserve a contract extension. Let me call Mal Moore. Last Game: Lost to Arkansas 24-23, Up Next: at Florida.
  8. Kentucky (2-2, 1-1) – You have to like a team that shows spunk. Rich Brooks is saving his job. Just keep it up Rich and you won’t get fired. Last Game: Lost to Florida 26-7, Up Next: Central Michigan.
  9. Vanderbilt (1-3, 0-2) – Okay, you got on the board. Now, win a second game and then plan for Ole Miss and lay in wait for Georgia. Last Game: Beat Tennessee State 38-9, Up Next:Temple.
  10. South Carolina (3-1, 1-1) – Big game on Thursday night. You are going to have to stop Kenny Irons. Good luck. Last Game: Beat Florida Atlantic 45-6, Up Next: Auburn (Thursday).
  11. Mississippi State (1-3, 0-2) – Very nice win on the road against UAB. I’m glad you guys showed up. Last Game: Beat Alabama-Birmingham 16-10, Up Next: at Louisiana State.
  12. Mississippi (1-3, 0-1) – Pathetic, just pathetic. Wake Forest was beat up big time and you couldn’t even put a touchdown on the board. This is an embarrassing football team. Coach O, you better get control of your football team and soon. Last Game: Lost to Wake Forest 27-3, Up Next: Georgia.
